Don’t get me wrong, I really like tofu. In good Thai or Japanese restaurants, or when somebody skilled cooks it for me. But, when it comes to cooking tofu, I am filled with anxiety. Which one, for starters? What is the difference between ’skillen’ and ’skillen firm’ and ‘firm,’ for example. I am way too confused to master this stuff, and I always except it to fall apart, so I normally just steer clear.
However, today I decided to feel the fear and do it anyway. I decided to start with a simple, yet delicious tofu stir fry dish.
Ingredients:
- 1 Tbls of Peanut Oil
- 1/2 teaspoon Sesame Seed Oil
- 1/2 of an onion
- 1 cup of Brocoli
- 1 cup of Shitake Mushrooms
- 1 teaspoon of sesame seeds
- 1 cup of Sanp Peas
- 1 package of tofu
- Brown Rice
- Soy Sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon of crushed pepper flakes
Method:
In a large skillet or Wok, heat your peanut oil, seasame seed oil, and crushed pepper flakes on medium to high heat. Add your onion and stir fry for two minutes. Next add your brocoli, snap peas, shitake mushrooms, and soy sauce stir fry until nice and crisp approximately five minutes. Add tofu and sesame seed until heated through. Cook brown rice according to the package, and serve your stir fry veggies over rice.
