Last night, I had the pleasure of attending one of the most ultimate dinning experiences. The event was called Outstanding in the Field: an idea formed around the belief to ‘dine at the source on the very soil that nourished the bounty on the plate, in the company of the farmers who cultivated it.’ The event was hosted at Munson Farm (located in Boulder) and the food prepared by Frasca Food and Wine.
As we arrived, we were greeted with a refreshing glass of Prosecco. After enjoying a cool spirit and some prosciutto san daniele with rocky ford melon and grissin the evening began with a guided tour of Munson Farm.
The guided tour provided historical knowledge regarding the life of the farm and the careful tending that goes into harvesting each crop. Once the tour was completed, we were welcomed upon a long table in the middle of the corn field, where we dined. Dinner was served family style with wine pairings to each course.
Local food artisan Lachlan MacKinnon-Patterson prepared a terrifically tasting meal that incorporated both the produce cultivated at the farm and Frasca’s traditionally regional Friuli food culture and tastes. Creative blends of herbs, spices, and a profusion of fresh ingredients made the meal decadent. Our menu consisted of: fresh heirloom tomatoes burrata di andrea and basil, pasta alla chitarra pancetta and sweet corn, roasted pork with fingerling potatoes and local fresh cut haricot verts, and a dessert of peach vanilla crema with almond biscotti.
Outstanding in the Field, Munson Farm, and Frasca did a wonderful job in pulling together a unique and unforgettable dinning experience (I suggest checking Outstanding in the Field’s schedule to see whether or not an event is coming close to you).

Jacq,
Glad you are enjoying your life in Boulder and can't wait to see you and Brittany!
Love,
Mom
